What is the "Trinity"?
Colossians 2:8-9 King James Version 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
If you are here with a sincere heart and hope to know the truth of what the holy scriptures have said for thousands of years about God, we invite you to continue on and read through this whole page for understanding. However, if you are here to argue with the scriptures and defend what you have been taught, rather than coming with an open heart to hear God's Word, it would be best for you to stop reading past this point.
To begin with, the scriptures tell us "... let God be true, but every man a liar ..." in Romans 3:4:
Romans 3:4 King James Version 4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Only God is true and what He says is the truth. The Bible contains the holy scriptures which are all inspired by God and are profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Let's have a look at what the scriptures say about God, starting with 1 Corinthians 8:6:
1 Corinthians 8:6 King James Version 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
This verse says "But to us, there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him". God is the Father, and the number "one" applies only to Him. Jesus Christ tells us in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth". He also told us in John 17:3 who His Father is:
John 17:3 King James Version 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
According to Jesus Christ the Son of God, His Father is "the only true God". If anyone would know who God is, it would be Jesus Christ His only begotten Son.
The holy scriptures tell us exactly who and what God is. However, through revelation we are taught that Jesus Christ is God because all of God, the Father, was and is inside of Him:
2 Corinthians 5:19 King James Version 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Colossians 2:9 King James Version 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Thomas did not get the revelation until he saw his resurrected Master in front of him:
John 20:28 King James Version 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
The reason so many modern day believers believe in a "Trinity" is because:
a.) they have been taught to believe what the pastor says instead of studying their KJV Bibles to see what the holy scriptures have always said,
b.) that doctrine has been passed down over hundreds of years so it continues to affect people today.
The first person that called God a "Trinity" was a Latin-speaking man named Tertullian from 155 AD - 220 AD.
155 AD is ~60 years after the scriptures were done being written.
He helped make this idea become more known until the Catholic church eventually made it part of their traditions in the first councils. It is a major lie that is told in the traditional Catholic and Protestant churches today, since they all believe in those first Catholic creeds from those councils.
The holy scriptures never teach that God is a Trinity. God never said He was nor did Jesus Christ His Son, and the Christians of the New Testament never heard about a Trinity either. The Trinity does not exist.
According to the holy scriptures, God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Also, because all of God the Father is inside of His Son, Jesus Christ is God. One God (The Father) inside one man (Jesus Christ, the Son of God). God is not and never has been a Trinity.
