What do Christians do?

Note: If you have not read the "Salvation - How to be Saved" section and are not sure if you are saved from your sins, please reach out to us via the "Contact CLK" form so we can help you obey the gospel message the Bible preaches. Continuing on with this page will not make sense otherwise.

Christians are directly commanded by Jesus Christ to continue in His word, as shown in the verse above. As Christians we are also to study His Word (2 Timothy 2:15), not just read it.

Christians must also stay in the apostles' doctrine, fellowship with each other, break bread and pray (Acts 2:42). The apostles' doctrine is also referred to as the doctrine of Christ (2 John 1:9). Anyone that preaches a different doctrine must be marked and avoided (Romans 16:17-18).

Christians focus on the gospel message of Jesus Christ and preach it to everyone (Mark 16:15). The gospel message of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes (Romans 1:16). Notice the "unto" in Romans 1:16, meaning it leads towards salvation, starting with belief. That belief will spark something in people called conviction, which will lead them to obey the gospel message and become a Christian (Acts 2:37-38). Anyone or any thing that preaches a false doctrine is accursed (Galatians 1:8-9). Christians are not even to welcome them into their house or bid them God speed (2 John 1:10-11).

A Christian's job is to preach the word (2 Timothy 4:2) and only speak as the oracles of God (1 Peter 4:11).

This means to preach what the Bible says, not what man says (tradition, religious teachings, philosophy, theology, etc). For English speakers, this is the KJV Bible (see "What we believe - Biblical Authority").

It is important to understand that being a Christian is a lifestyle of living in continual obedience to God's Word. It is a way that is full of learning (Romans 15:4, Jeremiah 10:2), doing (Philippians 4:11), and persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). However, the end thereof is eternal life in the presence of Almighty God (John 17:3, 1 John 5:20, 1 John 2:24-25).

Christians also must live a life of holiness and follow peace with all men, or they will NOT see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
